MikeyVPT Electronic Drums 1

Here we have it! The BFD drum software, Alesis Trigger IO, and the RET Percussion Stealth kit.

This is just a quick peak into what I’ve found the Virtual Percussion Technology package can do. I’m hoping to get more in depth with the functions of the BFD software, Alesis IO, and RET kit.

If you want to see something specific, I’m sure I can either address it here, or for wider demand, in another video. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

    Hmm… acoustic: …
Hmm… acoustic: something from Peace, Pearl, or Ddrum. Electronic: I don’t know. If you wanted, you could always buy individual RET drums and slowly build your kit up? Depending on what you want, my site can do single drums for about $380 each.

I got some V Expressions packs for my TD-12. I think they might be a bit over-rated. They don’t sound as hot as folks say…

You can go from the laptop, but I would recommend an external sound card, like the Presonus Firebox. If you go to my website, you’ll find out why!

I always go out of my Trigger Io USB. It’s actually faster than MIDI, especially if you have multiple steps.

    Hi Mikey… thanks …
Hi Mikey… thanks for all of the very useful information! I have a Roland TD3, midi out into Edirol UM1 midi interface into dell laptop. I have BFD2 on the laptop. I see you are using the Alesis Trigger I/O. Does this give lower midi latency as it is direct USB to the laptop – missing out a midi-out / midi-in step as in my set-up?

    Firebox is great. …
Firebox is great. It has 6 outputs, which is as much as I need. It doesn’t add latency, so I have 2ms which is standard. Very strong. I’ve never had a problem with it… it actually solved my problems!

    I had a soundcard …
I had a soundcard that gave me 4-5 millisec in latency and it was playable.. i mean the midi triggered the Superior drummer but there was a little feeling that the samples triggered a bit late.

So I bought a new soundcard the m-audio “audiophile 192″ and now i am down to 2-4 millisecs of lateny much better.. the playability i awesome..

i am thinking of a firebox for my mobile studio.. but is it good?? I hear alot ocomplaints on youtube. whats the latency in millisecs?? thanx mikey/lenny

    Because I use an …
Because I use an external sound card (PreSonus FireBox), I have some outputs, which I could use to go to a mixer/powered speaker/amp.

I select the FireBox as my sound card, then I’m off!

Here, I recorded the drums to Cubase, then imported the drum track into Vegas Video.

    I wanted to clear …
I wanted to clear something up here.

The RET Percussion drum sets are MORE quiet than a practice pad, while giving you a much better feel than anything else on the market.

    Just our opinion, though!
